3 Tips For Picking The Right Pair Of Glasses

Beauty & Fashion Blog

Is it time to pay the optometrist a visit for your regular eye exam? If you suspect that you will need a new prescription this year, you will likely be ordering a new pair of glasses by the time your check up is complete. If you've used your current glasses for a long time, perhaps it's time for a new look. Here are 3 tips to keep in mind when trying to pick out the perfect set of frames for your new glasses.

Size Matters

In general, the first choice you will have to make when picking out new frames is just how big (or not) you want the glasses to be on your face. A common piece of advice to follow is that your eyes should be comfortably in the center of the lenses. If your face has changed since you last got new frames due to aging or a change in weight, you may want to take a step back and assess all of the options available instead of just using the same size frame you are using right now.

Your Color Should Compliment

Frames for glasses these days come in just about every color you can imagine. If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of the different choices, perhaps it would be best to keep things simple. Pick a color that will compliment your face or the rest of your body in some way. For example, if your eyes are blue, frames that have a touch of blue in them might look nice. Another way to go would be to consider your wardrobe. If you frequently wear a certain color all the time, get glasses that will match the rest of your outfit a good percentage of the time.

Shape It Up

While the overall size of the frames is important, the shape of the frames can also dramatically affect the overall look on your face. Specifically, you want to pick frames that compliment the shape of your face. For example, if you have a heart-shaped face, rimless frames might be a good choice so that there's not too much going on up top. Square-shaped faces might want to go with oval frames to provide a nice contrast.

If you are about to pick out a new pair of glasses at the optometrist's office, selecting the right pair of frames is important. Pick frames that are the right size for your head while also complimenting the overall shape of your face. If you want to get creative with the color, pick frames that match your eye color or a color in your wardrobe that you wear frequently.
